Closed Disable right click option

Would it be possible for you to disable the right click open on the site as this would prevent the majority of people being able to save pictures that other people have uploaded. Ive saw it on a few other websites and thought it may be something useful here.
 
Or how about if you don't want other people having it... don't upload it.
 
I'm sorry but I hate it when Right-click is disabled - it stops you being able to open links in new windows/tabs and suchlike as well as copying pictures. And if you want to nab a picture, you can still save it easy enough anyway by saving the whole page.
 
There's a way around everything, as Maguari says.

I don't like the thought that my photos may be used without permission somewhere out there, but if someone finds satisfaction in claiming my work as his, then go ahead, I'm the one with clean conscience.
 
I dont think the right click should be disabled. I often save pictures in a zoo folder on my computer if I particularly like them. I would never use or repost them anywhere else nor would I claim them as my own. I just like to have them for quick reference!
 
There's a massive difference between passing off someone else's work as your own and saving pictures of your favourite animals or zoos from other people for your own use and reference so I don't think right click should be disabled.

If people are really worried about their pictures I think they can always watermark them or just not upload them.
 
Personnaly I don`t think the right click should be disabled if people don`t want people to save pictures they have taken they shouldn`t up-load them in the first place,if you want to make sure that people know its yours then watermark it!

True.

There is I do think there are legal precedents to the fact that pictures do remain the sole property of the owner ...
 
As already mentioned, disabling right-mouse click will only stop the inexperienced user. If your browser can display a photo, then you can download it - even without using right mouse click (if you know where to look).

I think the loss of functionality is far worse than the minor benefit one might gain from stopping a couple inexperienced users from downloading your photos.

Better approaches are to use some form of digital watermarking (although many of these can be removed if you know what you are doing), but also to ensure that you only upload relatively low-resolution photos to the web ... even if someone was to download them, they couldn't do high-quality reproductions of them anyway.

A lot of professional photographers have photo galleries on their own websites but limit the resolution of the images they upload - if you want a print or a high quality digital copy, they will send it to you directly ... the stuff on their website is really just a preview.
