Dolphin carcass found in Gunungkidul

A dolphin weighing 3 kilogram died and its carcass washed up on Sundak Beach, Kalurahan Tepus, Kapanewon Tepus, Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta on October 29th, allegedly caught in fishing nets.

Marjono, SAR Coordinator of Satlinmas Region II DIY, said that the carcass was first discovered by SAR members while patrolling the Sundak Beach area at around 05.30 AM. The member, named Ririn Saputro, was surprised by the presence of dolphins bobbing on the shoreline. When checked, the dolphin was already in a dead condition.

The team assisted by local residents immediately carried out the burial for the dolphin because the carcass had an unpleasant smell.
