Dolphins recognize themselves at earlier age than humans do

What a mesh! Bottle-nosed dolphin, that is the species on which the article is based, can live an average of 45 years in captivity and 35 in the wild. They independize from parents at 5 years old. They reach sexual maturity at 5 to 10 years old in females and 8 to 13 in males. So why we should don't expect that they start recognizing themselves at 7 months??? The article takes in consideration absolute numbers instead relative numbers.
