This is a list for captive institutions holding duikers (subfamily Cephalophinae) and dwarf antelopes (tribe Neotragini of subfamily Antilopinae) in American and Canadian zoos. Evidence for holding goes back no further than 01/01/2017 for all species. Please add or correct holdings to the best of your knowledge; an updated list will be posted if necessary.

(This wasn't going to be my next list, but a discussion on the Discord chat prompted it and due to the small number of species it only took a couple of hours to compile. Hoping that more mammal lists will be upcoming.)

Some queries to be answered:

Do Brookfield or either San Diego facility still hold Royal Antelope?

Does Denver still hold Kirk's Dik-dik or have they been phased out to make room for the penguins?

Does SDZSP still hold Yellow-backed or Black Duikers?

Does Tampa (Lowry Park) still hold Crowned Duiker?

Some historical facts:
Bush Gardens imported Adders's Duiker in 1968
Gladis Porter holded Jentink's Duiker
There were several holders of Zebra Duiker, like LA and Omaha
Maxwell Duikers were imported in USA by Philadelphia in 1928. San Diego and Bronx had the species.
Bronx had Black-fronted Duiker
There are many holders of Natal Red Duiker in Europe, there were some in USA also, I believe.
Bronx had White Bellied Duiker.

Tampa do not have Crowned Duiker anymore.

Bronx also held Bay Duiker for the while, and their last Maxwell's died in 2015.

Nobody holds Crowned Duiker anymore, and SDZ is the only holder of Royal Antelope left.

Every year the AZA Ungulate TAG puts out an update of the various program populations in one long powerpoint following the midyear meeting. I've found these prove invaluable in tracking the status of US ungulate populations, though they do not list which zoos keep which taxa. I don't think they've uploaded a 2020 update (yet) since the 2020 midyear meeting was cancelled due to the obvious. According to the 2019 update, however:
-11.6 Black Duiker resided in 5 collections; this is a decline in the population.
-23.16 Blue Duiker resided in 11 collections; this is an increase in the population.
-18.11 Kirk's Dik-Dik resided in 17 collections; this is a decline.
-1.0 Gunther's Dik-Dik in 1 collection; this is a decline
-21.20.1 Klipspringer in 10 AZA collections plus various non-AZA; this is a decline
-12.19 Red-Flanked Duiker in 12 collections; this is an increase.
-11.16.2 Cape Steenbok in 6 collections; this is an increase.
-46.47 Yellow-Backed Duiker in 35 collections; population has remained stable

Note that just because a species isn't listed above does not mean it's not kept in AZA zoos. Bay Duiker, for example, is kept in at least three zoos listed above despite not being an AZA program.

I'm not surprised to see my numbers off somewhat, given the potential number of obscure non-AZA holders and non-public facilities. Of those discrepancies, I am most curious about who the other 4 Steenbok holders are.

Yeah the Steenbok surprised me as well!

As far as Black Duiker goes, I'm pretty sure Tampa keeps them still.

How old is the remaining Royal Antelope now? When's the last time it was confirmed to be around, since it's off exhibit?
 
Ha! I was going to do this exact thread next week, once I finish my felid one. <3 duikers. I'll still keep an eye out for other places. I'll be doing hyenas, civets, genets, and fossa next then; I can throw in anything anyone else is interested in, as well.
 
i believe there are several subspecies of Klipspringer kept in the US. i think three according to Zooinstitutes

I don't search for subspecies information myself unless there is a compelling reason to do so. However, if anyone has information about subspecies at individual holders I can include that info in future updates.
 
There are no pure subspecies of Klipspringer kept in the US. SDZ and Dallas have individuals listed as stevensoni but the family tree of these animals are clearly mixed with founders from various parts of Africa.

The first Jentink's duikers (Cephalopus jentinki) in the United States were imported by and kept at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo, when Dr. Warren Thomas was their director. These animals were intended for the Gladys Porter Zoo during their construction, but Omaha was a temporary holding place until construction of the zoo in Brownsville was completed and the zoo was open. Los Angeles Zoo also kept them, again during Warren Thomas's directorship there. The Zoological Society of San Diego owned an individual, but I don't know if that animal was kept on-site at any of their parks, however the International Zoo Yearbooks volume from 1993 does list the San Diego Wild Animal Park as a holder of Cephalopus jentinki.

Besides Los Angeles and Omaha, Cincinnati Zoo, San Diego Zoo, Gladys Porter Zoo, and I want to say San Antonio Zoo kept Zebra duiker as well. I believe Fort Worth Zoo had ownership of Zebra duikers, but I am unaware of them having any on-site. Fort Worth Zoo purchased those animals for Cincinnati Zoo in exchange for gorillas if memory serves me right.
