Bongo (and pygmy hippo and common hippo) have all appeared on the "List of specimens taken to be suitable for live import" published 15 Jan 2020.

Hopefully we will see some much needed imports soon.

Agreed, But the IRA appears to be taking a long time to complete I just hope there are still some species left here to be able to breed with any new imports!

Pigmy Hippo was added early last year, but Common Hippo and Bongo have been on there for many years (otherwise the Bongo from Singapore Zoo wouldn't have been able to be imported via Wellington). Being on the import list doesn't mean anything unless there is an IRA to go with the species.
