The research in the six (!) research stations of the Forschungsstation ('research station') at Zurich is real and the willful speculation to the contrary in this thread is a bit silly. It's also directly apparent to anyone with a research background, that real research is indeed conducted in the stations with e.g. many identical tanks in each research room for sample sizes that ensure sufficient statistical power, and these things are explained to the curious visitor in the excellent information panels. Indeed, the zoo moved a part of its behind the scenes research and breeding efforts into full public view with the research station.

Considering the fact that no one commenting in the thread previously has actually seen the exhibit in question in order to judge it for themselves, and could only base their opinions on the PR photographs and information provided by @lintworm - none of which provide the information you have cited - I think it is somewhat unfair to accuse people of being "wilful" and "silly" for not knowing something that you apparently *did* know (I'm guessing you've seen the exhibit yourself?) but chose not to share until the match had concluded.

If you wish, I can tag you into all future Zurich matches so that you have full opportunity to prevent people voting wilfully in future :D:p

I apologise for my assumption, and thanks for the extra info, although it would have been nice to know during the course of the match, admittedly. While I do have some (fairly minimal for now) research background, I'm more into the cellular side so am relatively unfamiliar with behavioural research labs. As for repeats, I'm guessing they have more tanks behind the scenes. But either way I'm glad that it will be an active research area, always better that way ;).

I did write it twice before you posted, so not exactly new information...
