Althrough still widespread accros Europe, the European wild cat was untill this year only a rare visitor in the Netherlands. The few obsevations were most likely animals from re-introduction programms in Germany.
This year however the first breeding on Dutch ground have been confirmed in hstoric times and hopefully a healthy population can settle themself in the Netherlands
