The zoo announced last weekend on Social Media that a Margay kitten had been born. It is believed to be a female.

Princessa, the Clouded Leopard now has access to the full exhibit.

The zoo has announced a new species to the zoo, two Fennec Fox's.

Recently arrived at Exmoor Zoo ‘Lieutenant Wolfe’ and ‘Pretty Lady’ as they have so far been dubbed, have moved into their enclosure. Originally planned some 2 years ago, the enclosure had housed our Armadillo and Dwarf mongoose until recently, both species have moved to allow the world’s smallest species of fox to join the Exmoor Zoo family.
Also known as the Desert Fox they are oddly an omnivore. Their prey includes a wide range of animals, like small rodents, snakes, lizards and insects such as grasshoppers and locusts, as well as eggs, roots, leaves and fruit. We’re all pretty excited about the Fennec Foxes arrival, maybe we’ll see you over the Bank Holiday weekend to be some of the first to see them?

Do they still have any cougars left?

In the post they mention they still have a (0.1) named Fhu which is in the jaguar exhibit.

They say no such thing, and you should have ended your sentence with the name of the animal rather than making things up :D quite apart from anything else they don't have jaguar and never have, and I sincerely doubt they would mix the two species if they did.

The puma is held in the former leopard enclosure, no? Which given the prevalence of melanistic jaguar in captivity is a fairly understandable typo.

On the subject of that - is there any intention to try and obtain another melanistic leopard, or is the idea of giving the puma more space still the plan for the foreseeable future?

No, the leopard enclosure contains a (melanistic!) leopard once again and has for a year or so now - conversely, the puma enclosure contains a puma and, until very recently, held two.

The article Smaggle cited makes neither the claim that the remaining puma is held in a jaguar enclosure nor a leopard enclosure, so you can't dismiss the misinformation posted as a mere "typo" on his part ;):p

Crikey, not sure how I'd missed that - but then again, the Exmoor website isn't the most up to date on its info. Nice to know that they managed to obtain another of arguably their most famous animal.

What their post actually says is that the remaining female Puma is 'fed alongside Bagheera the (black) leopard' meaning they are in adjacent enclosures rather than being kept together. Could be a little confusing maybe in the way it was written..

there is a leopard on way from thrigby see my update from thrigby later
Is there, or are you just guessing? In your post on the Thrigby thread you have said this:

the 6 year old amur lepoard cub is going to devon later this year or early next. i asume this to be exmoor to join the one there.

I suspect it would be to Dartmooor to join their new male! Only other contender would be Combe Martin, but I highly doubt that.
Dartmoor will be receiving a female from Colchester, not Thrigby Hall, so it is very much possible that the individual in question will be going to Exmoor. That said, I suspect that Exmoor still plan to focus on melanistic leopards for marketing reasons, which I believe would rule out the Thrigby animals?

Does anyone who has visited recently know what species are kept in this new walkthrough area?

Does anyone know what happened to Hendrix the grey wolf? Evidently he has died, very sadly leaving his brother Flea as a lone wolf. The sign at the zoo says it was a "tragic accident" but it doesn't seem it was announced anywhere? They had lived there without incident for many years so I'm slightly baffled, as well as upset for poor Flea.

Unfourtunately Hendrix ruptured his larynx whilst eating, he simply tripped and fell despite all the best efforts of his keepers to resuscitate him he passed away.
