I have so many but if I had to choose my faves, they would probably be these-
- Loon
- Kookaburra
- Siamang (and another gibbon whose name I don´t remember :S)
- Lion (I find all of their calls fascinating)
- Tiger (same as above)
- Mountain lion scream
- Wolf
- Spotted hyena
- Capuchinbird
- Bell bird
- Tinamou
- Elephant
- Crocodile/alligator mating calls
- Red deer mating call (when I first heard it I thought it would fit a dinosaur more than a deer XD Especially because I had only heard chital and sambar deer calls until that moment)
But even just crickets and frogs at night make me happy
I love the song of the willow warbler as a sign that spring has arrived. Little can compare with the song of the nightingale - provided you are not too close (those guys are LOUD ).
I am fond of the song of the African many-coloured bush shrike, because it is the only species I can attract by imitating its song: this is not a particularly impressive feat, because the bird books describe this song as 'a single, rather melancholy,"whoop" '.
There is also something very special about the cooing of an eider drake and the bugling of whooper swans.
For mammals I can only offer the soprano cacophony of a bonobo group, the eerie call of an old male orang and the chest beating of a silverback gorilla.
