Female Siberian Crane (Belgium) to be added to dwindling western population (Iran)

That was exactly what I think when I see television news. I wonder how much natural habitat has been destroyed due to war (just think how many african and asiatic animals brought close to extinction due to conflicts). I am not sure though whether siberian cranes will manage to re-establish there because they are very sensitive. let's see.

The Siberian Cranes seem to be a bit more secure in the Far East, with thousands of birds wintering in China.
I wonder if they may be (re?)introduced in Northern Europe (there are antique and medieval proofs of its presence in Egypt, that would suggest a more extended distribution towards the West in the past).

Exactly, the relatively habitat remoteness is beneficial to them Actually, like other migrating birds, there is need to conserve them both in breeding and staging/wintering grounds. The majority of northeast russian population stages in the flooded grasslands formed by the Nenjiang river before flying again to the yangtze river. These grounds need protection. Mining and destruction of their nests are major threats in their breeding grounds
