To whom it may concern... a question has arisen for me, so I am in search of answers.
Just recently I was, out of curiosity, checking out the account upgrades thing. And although I probably won't be able to do that for practical reasons, I did notice that it said amongst the benefits of premium membership "large media storage allowances".
Now I must say I personally didn't even know we had a media storage allowance on here - I personally only knew of the upload limits in terms of file size and photo dimensions. Is there in fact such a thing as a maximum amount of materials members can upload to this site?
I am asking because I have noticed that my own gallery contributions to this date do seem to be a relatively large burden on this site's file storage. I have currently upload 4,638 images for 4,3 gigabytes of storage, according to gallery statistics. After some calculations that would mean I account for about 1.25% of media for about 3.43% of total storage, which perhaps - or am I just seeing this the wrong way - slightly disproportional.
So I guess I am also asking, are the images I am currently uploading perhaps too large? They are usually just under 1 MB each - and I always try to resize my images to fit the quota for image dimensions set in the "Add media" screen.
I would love to continue to contribute to the gallery and so I would like some information, just to ensure that I shouldn't worry about some things, or that I am not doing something the wrong way.
