As it slipped out, maybe it would have been best *not* to point it out :p

Some notes from a recent visit:

Reptile Realm is now open, it’s a lovely little exhibit housing reticulated python, plumed basilisk, Madagascar giant day gecko, panther chameleon, reticulated python and yellow-headed day gecko. Some really nice tidy enclosures for the species mentioned above, there’s still one empty exhibit with no signage attached yet.

The zoo have also received 0,3 ring-tailed coati - again, in a very nice enclosure, which in comparison to the nearby Bridlington Animal Park which also houses this species is ten times better.

The coatis have been at the park since towards the end of the 2022 season, they came from the closed Jungle Zoo along with the Alexandrine Parakeets with George the Umbrella Cockatoo following soon afterwards when he turned out to be too noisy for Messingham due to its proximity to residential dwellings. The coatis have been housed at the end of the lemur exhibit until now where they were not especially visible to the uninitiated. As I avoid the school summer holidays I haven't yet seen the opened Reptile Realm but I've had a few sneak previews as it developed so I'm looking forward to my next visit...and I need to make 8 more this season to comply with my rule of one extra over the number of seasons of opening, although I had to pro rata those in 2020!
