Howletts Wild Animal Park First Ever Breeding!

Will be interesting to see if they can source a female or two, or even another male, obviously Indonesia is the only choice, when it comes to new animals.
I wouldn't have thought this was a first captive birth, maybe the first RECORDED, but i would bet my house that some park in S.E Asia, has bred them in the past.

That was my first thought as well - first European breeding it may well be - but first ever is a big claim!

Excellent news though - here's hoping they can pair the youngster up.

This is wonderful news!!! another reason why i rate the Aspinall parks to be the best zoological gardens in the world , lets hope their noble efforts continue into the future

Hey
Schmutzer Primate Center in Raganun Zoo has breed this species before this is most likely the first birth in Britain and also in europe

Thanks for the confirmation - had a feeling that'd be the case! :)

Thanks for that Hairymoloch, i would agree certainly first UK birth, but i would have thought maybe a Dutch collection, perhaps with their longtime connections to the region, may have seen Hecks imported to Holland and most likely Amsterdam, in the past.
Of course this is just conjecture on my part.
