A hybrid seal was born at the Fisheries and Maritime Museum on 9 February. Father of the cub is a harbour seal and the mother is a grey seal. The harbour seal must be the father because he is the only male animal in the enclosure. Hybrids between grey and harbour seals have never before been documented in captivity or in the wild.
