Formula 1 WDC (2025)

Since we’ve just passed the halfway point of the F1 2025 season, I’d be interested to hear people’s thoughts on who will win the 2025 WDC.

I’m a Max fan and would like nothing more than to see Max win his fifth WDC; but with the current driver standings in mind, I feel at this point it’s a battle of the McLarens.

Oscar is leading by eight points and is a level-headed driver; but my money is on Lando, who has won three of the last five races and set the fastest lap more times than any other driver this season (5/12). He’s less consistent than Oscar, but clearly an immensely skilled driver.

My head says a betting man should say Oscar, but my heart says Lando.

It will be a McLaren. I think Lando is the faster driver, but Oscar is the better racer. So i say Oscar Piastri would be my best guess for World Champion

Points Update

I thought it’d be interesting to post a points update following the Azerbaijan Grand Prix:

Oscar Piastri - 324 points (523)
Lando Norris - 299 points (498)
Max Verstappen - 255 points (454)
George Russell - 212 points (411)
Charles Leclerc - 165 points (364)

The second number of points (in brackets) is the maximum potential number of points each driver can score. It shows that mathematically speaking, all five drivers have a chance to win; though realistically speaking, it would be near impossible for George and Charles to win at this point.

While I maintain it will be a battle of the McLaren’s, we certainly can’t discount Max at this point.
