United States Fresno Zoo Conservation Center?

I was wondering if anyone had any information about the closed Fresno Zoo's conservation center. It says on their website that it opened in 1997, was closed in 2001, and was for breeding rare hoofstock and nothing else.

All I've read about it is that it had some problem involving rights to a road to the facility, and thus fundamental access. They may have also found that it was not economically feasible as the zoo was having serious budgetary problems in the years leading up to the tax support for the zoo passed by voters in the early 2000s.

The facility was never publicized much, and is now just a forgotten footnote.
