Reading all the various posts about this that and the other and it gave me an idea or two - no I'm not sharing with you yet but I will. I am on the other hand looking for information.
1. How many UK based Zoo chatters are there ?
2. Do any of you meet up from time to time to visit a collection ?
3. How many collections do you visit a year? (either paying or season ticket)
4. How far would you travel to visit a collection in one day?
5. Do you travel by car or public transport?
6. Do you ever stay overnight in a B&B either for travel purposes or to visit a second collection near by?
7. When you go to the Zoo do you go alone or with others ?
8. What is the nearest city to you?

Many thanks

I suspect your idea may involve this part of the forum: Events & Meetups Forums

It is actually little-used because people tend to organise things on the country forum or via pm's.

I don't know how many UK zoochatters there are, and I don't usually get the chance to meet up with any unless I'm on holiday. These days I'm visiting around 40 collections a year, mostly paying.
If in the UK, I'll travel up to around 3 hours; usually by car. I rarely stay overnight, rarely visit with company, and Coventry is my closest city.

The IZES has a meetup planned for an October weekend. If you're not already a member, you really should join.
The Bartlett Society also holds meetings of enthusiasts.

2. Do any of you meet up from time to time to visit a collection ?
Have by chance bumped into fellow zoo chatters but never arranged a meet up, have wanted to attend the walk and talks that ZG arranges at Chester but work always gets in the way.
3. How many collections do you visit a year? (either paying or season ticket)
I visit Chester atleast once a month (but this can extend if I'm try to photograph something in particular and will go for say 4 consecutive days) , and the following atleast once a year;
Twycross
Blackpool
South Lakes
Knowsley
Welsh Mountain
Bristol
Does Heythrop count?
4. How far would you travel to visit a collection in one day?
Upto a 5 hour drive if the collection is worth it.
5. Do you travel by car or public transport?
Car
6. Do you ever stay overnight in a B&B either for travel purposes or to visit a second collection near by?
Have done a few times, this would then extend the distance willing to travel (question 4)
7. When you go to the Zoo do you go alone or with others ?
This varies on the reason behind the visit, a photography visit I will visit alone, a date I will visit with my Girlfriend, or as a family trip I visit with my Children.
8. What is the nearest city to you?
As the crow flys, Liverpool.
Road network, Chester.

I was hoping to get a little more response but obviously not. My thought behind it really was distance Zoo chatters were prepared to go and if there was the desire and need perhaps to stay overnight we as a group could approach B&B's etc to get a discount etc
