Fungus threatens ash trees in UK forests

It has destroyed a lot of the Ash trees in Denmark and has been on the continent for about 20 years so it could do a lot of damage to our woodlands.
Unfortunately a lot of the "native" species planted by well meaning individuals and groups, use imported stock so there may be a lot more outbreaks to come. Fortunately Ash doesn't,- as far as I know- have any specific species dependant on it unlike the Oak tree and Silver Birch amongst others.
