This would have to be one of the more interesting zoo layouts l have come across.

The Equator expedition

takes you back 300 million years in time, to when Limburg was a tropical, warm region. Your journey then takes you to today’s equator, to the rainforest of Amazonia, full of monkeys and brightly-coloured birds, and the journey ends in Congo, with powerful gorillas and fascinating pygmy hippopotami.

The Dinosaur safari

takes you to the Limburg of the Cretaceous period (100 million years ago), when dinosaurs ruled the land. You’re journey continues to the African country of Namibia, too, were you can admire the larger land animals of today: giraffes, cheetahs, zebras and the magnificent white rhinoceroses.

on the Mammoth expedition,

you will meet a mammoth and a woolly rhinoceros, animals that lived in Limburg during the Ice Age. It was only 10,000 years ago, bet Limburg looked very different back then. This expedition then leads you to the tundra landscape of today, with long-haired musk oxen and wolverines.

At GaiaPark you can also take a trip around the world.

Your journey will lead you to Eastern Europe, with wolves and aurochs, to the bare tundra, to the dense forests of Amazonia and the Congo, and finally to the savannahs of Namibia, where you will find wild dogs and the unmissable comical meerkats.

Gaia Park

A couple of hours ago I uploaded some photos taken at Gaia Park during my recent visit to this place in July 2008. Everything there seem to be perfect, animal enclosures, general design, education etc. But unfortunately my memories are not that good. It was a very sunny and hot day and actually we were in really big trouble to find a good place for rest in shadow.

Your journey will lead you to Eastern Europe, with wolves and aurochs.......
To my best knowledge there is no place in Gaia Park itself, neither in any guide book or map, or leaflet where Eastern Europe is mentioned. What more please note that today "Eastern Europe" has only the historical and geo-political conotation. Of course we (in Poland) are proud that we still have here such animals as wolves, wisnets, lynxes, brown bears and many, many others (BTW-no true aurochs !!) - most of which were exterminated in so called Western Europe yet in Middle Ages.

Hey fanaloka, It would be great if you would post a comment/description on your photos.

????

Most of the photos uploaded by me in Gaia Park gallery is selfexplanatory.
At the moment I am busy baking the cake for Easter, but I am still online as I am waiting to communicate by skype with my daughter who is living in USA. So please fill free to ask a question and surely I will answer to my best knowledge.
