Chester Zoo Giant pandas

Thank goodness for the sensible approach. In P.R. China there are well over 200 giant pandas in captivity (that is 14% by conservative wild population standards). I really cannot see the need to exhibit giant pandas outside P.R. China.

What that country does need is in situ conservation action and awareness raising of both native and exotic wildlife plight at the hands of Chinese populace. So, 100 dollars spent on in situ giant panda conservation by us is better spent than 100 dollars for an ex situ giant panda exhibit.

Can you give us a source? As Chester have made it clear that they will not be getting Giant Panda's.

i saw it on the internet that Chester zoo maybe the zoo thats getting the new giant panda from china. i have also seen that Edinburgh Zoo on there aswell.

It's official that Edinburgh are interested, but there's been nothing of any substance that Chester are also looking to get them...

Edinburgh Zoo are definitely in talks about getting a pair of Giant Pandas next year (it was supposed to be this year I understand). It is more than likely they'll get them I believe.
