Banham Zoo Giraffe Birth!

I thought that the EEP was trying to stop breeding the subspecific hybrids. I wonder why Banham are still breeding them, or am I wrong to assume that this offspring is also a subspecific hybrid? If the male has moved does this mean the end to offspring at Banham for the time being?

Some collections holding hybrids were given permisson to breed due to the amount of places wanting to hold Giraffe and a shortage of pure individuals. Once enough pure individuals have been bred to supply all these zoo's the hybrids will be phased out.

Banham won't be breeding again for the forseeable future unless any more of the females became pregnant before Jonathon left

Really? According to ISIS there have been only 10 subspecific hybrids born in the last 12 months, and over thirty Rothschilds and eight reticulated giraffe. You'd think that nearly forty births would be enough to supply new holders, without needing to breed more hybrids.
 
It seems that Giraffe tend to die in zoos almost as often as they are born e.g. recent deaths of Rothschilds females at Dudley .
 
Both of those deaths was unfortunately close together and Dudley has not had a death before Churchill for over 6 years. So it was unlucky and not many giraffes have died this year.
 
Sorry to bring up an old thread but are Victor and Max the same animal or were there two births ? I know Max was born in 2010 possibly to Aisling ?

Fiona - born 2004
Honey - born 2009
Snippets - born 1996

When I was there the herd only consisted of:
Fiona- 06/01/2004 at Fota (Daragh X Nullaig)
Aisling- 30/11/2004 at Fota (Daragh X Roisin)
Victor- 22/07/2010 at Banham (Jonathan X Fiona)
Maxwell- 26/04/2011 at Banham (Jonathan X Aisling)
As far as I know Snippets died last year but I don't know what happened to Honey- She definitely wasn't there on my visit in March 2016 nor was Snippet
 
I haven't heard that Honey has moved
(though I dont know where she would be able to go) so I take it she's died.
Last 2 deaths I've heard of from here are Hannah(2014) & Puzzle(2015)
 
Snippets did pass away last year (2016) from old age and that they have 4 left
