I know Greenville is a small zoo, but seeing the species list laid out like this really hits that fact home. It feels all the smaller given a handful of small losses over the past few years including alligator snapping turtle, coatimundi, and Prevost's squirrel. I know that the loss of elephants is still a huge sore spot for some, but I think the Pampas exhibit is a much more suitable use of that space.

The Pampas used to be an ELEPHANT exhibit?? Yeah, there's no way that would be acceptable today. Thankfully, in its current state its actually a good exhibit.

I visited Greenville Zoo back in May 2022 and it seems like the Ecotarium has seen a few changes since. Otherwise, it looks mostly the same as then.

Western Hognose Snake (Heterodon nasicus) and Flat-headed Knobscale Lizard (Xenosaurus platyceps) were not present at all during my visit, so I assume they are new arrivals?

I also noticed that Rhinoceros Iguana (Cyclura cornuta) and Southern Green Python (Morelia viridis) are missing from your list, so I assume they were not on display? Do you know what is in the large exhibit with the sunlight at the end of the hall?

Also, is Alligator Snapping Turtle no longer exhibited? They were signed on my visit, but not seen.

I want to say it's been maybe two years since I've seen the alligator snapping turtle. I believe they've removed some, but not all of its signage. This could just be a seasonal thing, as I usually end up visiting Greenville Zoo in the winter, but who knows.

Late response - I typically skip Ektopia due to a severe phobia of snakes, but I did make my way through it yesterday. I was also surprised by the lack of rhinoceros iguanas since the last two times I went through the building they were first renovating that large exhibit, and then had the iguanas on display. Yesterday they had red-footed tortoise in there. Can't comment on any changes to snakes, obviously.

The only other changes since this list was posted are the loss of the black swan and apparently the addition of Solomon Island leaf frog (Cornufer guentheri) into the enclosure with the skink from the same islands.
