Halloween frog re-discovered

That is good news VC though this colour form is only one version of Atelopus varius as the name suggests it comes in a range of colours. I wonder how all the other Atelopus species are doing.
They used to be quite common frog in the hobby in the 1980's 90's mainly in the USA I believe. Some were collected for the pharmaceutical industry which was interested in the skin toxins.
I sometimes think the doom mungers shout extinct to readily these days possibly to show how badly we are treating the planet, possibly for publicity.
Though for me as an amphibian fan, this is good news

Attelopus were also quite common in the European pet-trade in the 1980-ties and 1990-ties but very difficult to breed. I've seen somewhere that some US-zoos are doing better at the moment with one or several species and also in Costa Rica a captive breeding programm is doing quite well with several Atelopus and other frog species !
