Visited today, the jaguarundi are back on show in the right hand bearded civet enclosure. The civets are still in the left one but there are now some occupying one of the quoll enclosures. Building for the ringtails and skunks is coming along great and there’s been a move around in the aquarium. No sign of barramundi, primitive archerfish or hyrtls catfish, but a eel-like animal was occupying the barramundi’s tank - which is now much shallower. I’ll post an image for ID of them. There’s work near the bears for a new exhibit and I’m not sure if it has been mentioned but the wombats definitely had a baby in the pouch:)
 
Hamerton have released an article about their coming season. There are a number of developments ongoing, the result of the largest capital investment in the park since it opened in 1990. Among the developments that should be complete by Easter include the new cheetah house, paddocks between the tigers and bears, enclosures for skunks and ringtails and a newly-started tortoise house.

Spring will see some new arrivals which have been planned for some time but delayed by Covid and international freight issues. Summer will see the opening of the new meerkat enclosure while autumn will see the completion of a major new exhibit that has been progressing off-show.

Really looking forwards to the completion of the upgraded bear viewing space and the finish of the enclosure between there and the tigers. Lots of further work had been done when I visited recently and will be going next weekend to see the latest changes. There’s always a feeling of stuff moving along at Hamerton even when there is clearly a lot to do which is great.

The new bear viewing spot with the lower and upper areas supported by the containers should make for some lovely sightings of the bears playing on their favourite tree trunks, on top of their mound and in the water as the weather gets nicer - will be nice to see (and photograph!) them without the wire.

This research also partly conducted at Hamerton also makes for some very interesting reading
