Heat is killing Flying foxes.

That website seems to be working in Australia now, so I can read that story - which is about ~500 Grey-headed Flying-foxes that have died during Melbourne's record-breaking heat wave this week.

A similar story has also come out of Adelaide, where 90 flying-foxes died this week (from the same heat wave) in the colony outside Adelaide Zoo, and people are working to save the rest of the colony: Heatwave in Adelaide: dozens of flying foxes drop dead during extreme heat - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

A much more extreme event occurred in Queensland earlier this year, where up to 100,000 flying-foxes died as a result of a heat wave there: About 100,000 bats dead after heatwave in southern Queensland - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Presumably such events will become more common, as climate change causes longer and more frequent heat waves in Australia.
