Firstly I appologise if there is already a thread for introductions and secondly I would like to say what a great site this is and wish I had come accross it sooner. I have literally just joined and thought I would say a big hello to everyone on here :D. I'm looking forward to meeting some awsomely intersting people who share the same passions as myself. I am currently studying a BTEC National Diploma in Animal Management and loving every minute of it. Is there anyone else on here doing the same or similar course?

Welcome, but there's a big old introduction area on the forums for threads like these! Oh well, hope you enjoy zoochat

Yeah! I thought there would be Foz, but being kind of unfamiliar with the forum, I couldn't find it. Thanks for the welcomes guys :p

Welcome to Zoochat Shez - where are you doing your BTEC? I am currently studying BSc(hons) Zoo Biology at Nottingham Trent University, and am loving every minute of it!

That sounds amaizing Meg-T! I only go to college at Crystal Palace... nothing special! I want to be a zoo keeper and hopefully once I am employed by a zoo I would like to start a city and guilds course in zoo management.

Good choice :D

The course I am on is very similar to the C&G so I understand, it is much more of a management based course than the name (Zoo Biology) would lead you to believe!

Ah ok! so is yours a two year course then? I heard that most zoo's require the C&G or equivalent qualification now. Are you currently working in a zoo setting?

No, my course is a full time, 3 year degree. I do not work in a zoo setting at this point (we have an animal unit on campus available to us), but when I finish this degree I am going to Plymouth for a top up which works in conjunction with Paignton zoo - and there are plenty of opportunities for practical experience there.

Yes it is true most zoos require a C&G or above, that is why I went to university originally, although now I lean more towards behavioural research than being a zoo keeper.

Mmm... that sounds pretty full on but very interesting! I love Paignton Zoo :) I wish you all the best for your studies!

Welcome to Zoochat, have a good time and learn some interesting facts and al the latest news! (From personal experience :D)

Thanks very much guys! I am already obsessed with the forum lol! its quite frustrating at the mo because I can't spend any quality time on it. Work experience is knackering me out and I just feel like going to bed. Never mind! the weekend is fast approaching and I'm sure I will be glued to the computer screen :p
