Apparently in one of the major newspapers (Telegraph I think) from yesterday or the day before it revealed that an Elephant at Chester Zoo had died from the Herpes virus. I think it must be Raman but can't be certien as I never saw the article for myself. Worrying times :( Anyone seen this article?

Found it at the times, plus I think more is being made into the Elephant herpes situation.

Times Online e-paper

Can I also add it says "test SUGGEST he died from the virus" nothing is yet confirmed unless we hear from Chester themselves.

Google says The Times, 14th October - but I'm not subscribing to anything of Mr Murdoch's, so I haven't read the whole story.

Elephants at Chester Zoo, the first zoo successfully to breed the animals in captivity, are being monitored after one died suddenly from a virus. Tests suggest that the two-year-old male Asian elephant, Raman, died from a herpes virus, which is increasingly common among both captive and wild animals.
