Hey up everyone

Hey up guys, I'm brand new to zoo chat but am already loving it!
I'm currently a student studying animal biology and am possibly interested in working with an animal collection once graduated so it's great to get to know some of you!
I'm from the UK and favourite zoos include The Costwold Wildlife Park (which I used to visit every year) Flamingo Land (but mainly for the rollercoasters!) Edinburgh Zoo (which I recently did a research project at) Longleat (which I very recently did my dissertation research at) Chester (obviously!) and the Highland Wildlife Park (which I volunteered at for 6 weeks last summer)
I've got a pretty serious thing about Tapirs and have grown up with an equestrian background but my true obsession is Wolves! I'm serious this is an obsession, not just a healthy respect or love for them but an obsession! To me they are beyond words!
Anyway that's enough about me, tell me about you guys!
Love Sarah XXXX

Hey Sarah and welcome to zoochat - although it is very strange saying that to someone I already know! haha

and as a footnote - she really is obsessed with wolves :p

Hey up everyone, thanks for the warm welcome :) My dissertation is about the natural behavioural repotoire of captive wolves vs the behaviour recorded of wild wolves, whether they display all or most of the behaviours found in situ and therefore whether they are a viable captive species. I'm still in the process of analysing the data I collected at Longleat then I've got to write it up. From what I observed though I think I can make the conclusion that they are viable. I'm thinking it'd be interesting to do similar studies including acitivty time budgets on some species that display a lot of coping mechanisms to see how captivity affect them.
