Hi- Dream Job: zoo owner

Hey everybody, my name is Claire. I'm 12, which I know is young but I am really going to persevere on this dream of mine.

Since as long as I've remembered, I have LOVED animals. Not just cute, fluffy puppies, but everything. From tarantulas to boa constrictors to scimitar oryx, you name it, I know all about them and am so interested by them. My dream is to own a zoo. I'm happy I know what I want to do with my life, because before I wanted to work as a zookeeper. Don't get me wrong, I'd love working there, but I just don't think it would provide too much income.

I know how expensive it's going to be. I will probably work as a vet and the zoo will be managed by me in it's early building days in my free time. My earnings will probably go towards it. My dad earns a ton of money and I don't want to take advantage of him but I know if I'm struggling, he'll help me out a bit. One of my best friends is also as dedicated as me and let's just say, she's not poor. I know it's a bit early but we both at the moment would love to own it together. I know things change but this is our life aspiration so..

I can't just delve straight into the typical city multi million dollar zoo, so it would probably start out as maybe a small petting zoo type, with some exotic reptiles and birds and a few native mammals. For example, visitors would be allowed to feed and pet the Bearded Dragons, various small pythons, White-lipped tree frogs (there's no shortage of them in my uncle -my mum is an ex owner- farm) and Ringtailed possums. As well as the talking Rainbow Lorikeets and the Eastern Rosella. Of course, it would grow from there, ending up with the typical tigers and Asian elephants.

So there you have it. That's me and my dream. It seems so far away and unlikely to happen but this is the one thing I'm going to relentlessly pursue.

Well welcome to ZooChat Zooclaire13. And nothing is impossible if you keep your dreams alive, and continue striving. Good luck.
