Greetings from Tokyo. I came across this forum, in searching for the info about animals. Really happy about that!
Two years ago, changing jobs (no animal related) gave me a great bonus, the new company was located close to Ueno Zoo! That enabled me to visit the zoo almost every weekday. Would love to visit other zoos as well, as frequently as possible. One of my dreams is to visit Vogelpark Walsrode where my favourite shoebill was moved for exchange.....
 
Helle and Welcome to zoobeat. Its great to to welcome someone from japan, especilally from tokyo. How many zoos and aquariums do you have now in tokyo ? Which zoo is better, the Ueno Zoo or the Tama Zoo ?

I hope, you will get the chance to realize your dream to visit the Birdpark walsrode someday, its a paradise for bird lovers of course.

I dream to visit japan someday, I love the big aquariums and all the rare animals. I love tarsiers, so the Ueno Zoo is my paradise...

If you have photos from the zoos - we would love to see them, we only have a few from Ueno and none from the others.

Thank you all for your kind welcome. I enjoy discussions in this forum a lot.

Zebraduiker: there are 4 zooz and 4 aquariums in Tokyo. I guess there're some more (small ones). Since Ueno Zoo is in the middle of busy town in Tokyo, space & environment-wise, to be honest, Tama (locates in the suburbs) is much better than Ueno. Still I love Ueno the best.

Sim: Would be grateful if you could create a gallary for Tama Zoo.

I will make an effort to put info & news updates from Tokyo.
 
I love the elephants at Ueno, I hope there is successful breeding there one day, out of the Japanese zoos I viewed on the web, I love ueno the most as well,
 
dragon(ele)nerd: their mating is almost always successful but for some reasons, none of the two young female have been pregnant so far. Maybe the male is too young (11 years old), I don't know. Your hope is my hope.
 
I won't go into detail of examples but I don't think age is the case, cheers anyway,
