Hi to all ,I have just joined up to the forum ,as I was looking for pictures of aberdeen zoo in the mid 70s. I saw a post regarding one of the animals I looked after when I was a keeper there from 75 to 77 .I concerned a cassowary I looked after ,it seems it was transfered to a private zoo. His new keeper noted the size of the bird ,it brought back memories of him waiting by his water bucket for birds to perch on the rim ,when they did he snatched them off the rim and ate them .often wondered where he went .

Welcome to ZooChat. You list your city, but not country. I will assume you are in the Aberdeen in Scotland and not the one in Washington (USA) or South Dakota (USA)!

Also from the Netherlands, welcome to ZooChat ! I also took care for cassowaries ( 2 different species ), very intresting but also very dangerous birds !

Cassowaries, especially males with chicks, are highly dangerous if they feel threatened. I've seen them in the wild before and kept my distance.

Welcome to the forum @Leslie Carnie
