Hi to everyone

I've just found your site via searching for information on Rajang the awesome orangutan at Colchester Zoo - I'm fascinated by him! Does anyone have any old photos of him? I've been four times in the last 5 weeks to Colchester - I think it's a great zoo - trouble is, it's 200 miles away so a stop over needed! We are members at Chester where we go a lot and the Zoo Days series drew me to Colchester when i saw Rajang! He's well worth the journey though! I'd love to work in a Zoo and as I am a teacher I would love to educate and promote on conservation issues etc. I so wish I'd have studied in animal management or something when i was younger. The plight of the Orangutan is terrible in that they could become extinct within 10 years if nothing is done to stop the illegal Palm Oil trade.

Any further info or pictures on Rajang will be very welcome.

Thanks and bye for now.

One of the main problems is that, in a lot of cases, it is not strictly illegal.

Anyway, welcome to the forums!

mmm, maybe the word I meant was sustainable!! Another problem is that it is not listed in foods, just disguised as Vegetable Oil and most companies/supermarkets are not interested in its origin. There's a petition going at the mo regarding this. Typical man's greed I guess as in most cases!

Thanks for the reply anyway.:)

Tell us about the petition and where to have it signed by us?

Aside from that ... welcome to the forum.
