Hello, I am a 17 year old highschool student from Louisiana,USA. I am a Eagle Scout,a part time Veterinary Tech and a very passionate animal enthusiast.It is my plan to become a Zoological Vet and specialize in Avian Medicine. I plan on attending Louisiana State University for a undergraduate degree in Veterinary Science and Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine for a graduate degree (unless I could get accepted into an Australian veterinary university.)
I am writing because I am in need of information. I graduate in May of 2010 and I would really like to spend my summer in Australia or New Zeland working with exotics(preferably working a veterinarian).I have no contacts in Australia or New Zeland, so if there is anyone out there who could be of some assistance I would be very appreciative.I have experience with normal animal care(dog and cat care),administration of large animal medicine( assistance with maintaining a herd of beef cows owned by my family)and the basic care of most exotic birds,reptiles and mammals(Including the hand feeding of baby parrots,softbills and doves,bottle feeding small mammals, and experience with the operation of incubators and care of chicks after they hatch.) I am a hard worker and I am willing to learn,so If there is anyone out there that can help me please let me know.
