Hi everyone,

we live in Kenya and do walking safaris. We have just found a wounded aardvark. It is ok, but we need to know how to feed it? Does anyone know what we should do?

Thanks,

Kerry

Try to mix a viscous porridge containing minced meat, low fat curd cheese, infant cereal, carrots, dog/monkey pellets, dog food, boiled eggs, bananas, some earth crumbles and in particular, eatable invertebrates (grubs, crickets...). Try to prepare the mix as clean as possible, and always make a new porridge for every feeding, as the mix soon turns sour and becomes inedible. Use a baby bottle at first, and then see whether it eats on its own.

thank you for this information. where did you look after aardvark's? Did you make a very strong holding ground for them? Ideally we would like to release this one to the wild again as soon as possible.

In an American institution. Ground holding should indeed be solid; they are able and strong diggers. Releasing asap is advisable.

I thinking about this when I saw the title of the thread, and My thoughts went to the gloopy stuff they feed giant anteaters. Sun wukong has given a much more accurate description :D

Welcome to zoochat by the way
