How Many Facilities Have Giraffe in Asia?

A great place to start would be with Zootierliste. However, some of the information may be out-of-date. You can check against info in other threads.

For Singapore Zoo, there is a bachelor herd of 4.0 giraffes.

1.0 "Marco" (9/6/2004) G. c. rothschildi
1.0 "Jubilee" (31/8/2015) G. c. rothschildi × G. c. giraffa
1.0 "Adhil" (6/5/2020) Signed and in EEP as G. c. rothschildi, may be hybrid?
1.0 "Balaji" (30/5/2020) Signed and in EEP as G. c. rothschildi, may be hybrid?

The source of confusion regarding Adhil & Balaji:
WRS maintains that they are Rothchild's and they have been included in the EEP.
What follows is a short history on the Mysuru Zoo giraffe from humble beginnings to what seems like a nice breeding herd. Their breeding pair was a Rothschild's male giraffe (captive-born 1987 at Koen Zoo) x a hybrid/generic female (captive-born 1987 in Hamburg). All their offspring born (3.0 in 1996, 1999 and 2001) are consequently hybrid/crossbreeds. They acquired a generic female giraffe from Lucknow (individuals of unknown lineages both captive-born at Kolkata Zoo 2000/2001).

We can safely say that the offspring now at Singapore are a happy-go-lucky hybrid/crossbreeds mix.

The source of confusion regarding Adhil & Balaji:

Thank you for the information! I'll check out Zootierliste as well.

I don't think I could help with numbers sadly, but there's around 9 zoos in Indonesia that keep giraffes.
  • Ragunan Zoo - Reticulated (Likely hybrid).
  • Taman Safari Bogor - Reticulated, Rothschild's, & likely some hybrids.
  • Royal Safari Garden - Rothschild's.
  • Bandung Zoological Garden - 1 reticulated and 1 Rothschild's.
  • Maharani Zoo & Goa - Rothschild's.
  • Surabaya Zoo - Rothschild's (1 pair)
  • Batu Secret Zoo - Rothschild's, 3 reticulated, and 1 likely hybrid.
  • Taman Safari Prigen - Rothschild's, reticulated, and likely hybrids.
  • Bali Safari & Marine Park - Rothschild's (likely some hybrids)

I have to clarify, only Batu Secret Zoo have the actual reticulated giraffes in Indonesia. All other facilities assigned with 'Reticulated' are more than likely hybrids or misidentified Rothschild's. I apologize for my mistake.
