Considering the fact that most zoo visitors are more interested in being entertained than being educated, there should perhaps be developed closer links between schools and zoos. To teach children about climate change, endangered wildlife etc. and afterwards reinforce this knowledge by a visit to the zoo, which could offer programms reflecting broader insights, may help to turn the tide at least in the next generation.
