I'm a huge fan of hyraxes, and wondered if anyone could clarify the present/future situation at Marwell. Whilst I see that the hyrax enclosure is now being transformed into a weaverbird enclosure, the inventory at the end of last year showed one female hyrax left. ISIS is now showing one male and one female at Marwell. It looks like they had a rough year with hyraxes at Marwell last year, with 5 deaths.
I was last at Marwell August last year, when there were 2 females, and when we asked the keeper, she said they were getting more in. I understand from the inventory that one of the females died late last year. Does anyone know if they are re-stocking the hyraxes, is ISIS wrong, or what happened to the solitary female?
