Indian Rhinoceros in Private Hands

Hi

I was wondering how many Indian Rhinos are in Private Collections ?

In particular I am interested in one collection in Florida which has a number of species (including Roan, Bongo, A duiker species and possibly Suni). I'm pretty sure that most of their animals are surplus from San Diego and they used to have a website and were registered with ISIS. For some reason I cant find any information on this collection now (or remember what it was called) so I wondered if it had closed?

Are you thinking of White Oak Conservation Center? If so, they're not *quite* a "private collection" in the usual sense, as they are a member of AZA and participate fully in Species Survival Programs.

The website is here - White Oak Conservation Center - they have bongos and roan antelopes, but no duikers, although okapikpr, who works there, might be able to confirm if they have previously held them.

I was thinking Rum Creek but arnt they Peace River ?

The place I was thinking of had as Solitary Indian Rhino and several other Ungulate species (Possibly also Congo Buffalo).
 
Your talking about Micanopy Zoological Preserve just outside Gainesville. I believe their greater one horn came from Rum Creek. Most of the species on the website is accurate.
 
I know Tanganyika Wildlife Park has at least two Indians. One source I found said they had some named the following: Graham (came from San Diego), Pandu, Henry, Rahba.

Whoever owns the Indian Rhino that used to be a Mountain View Conservation Centre (probably San Diego) doesn't take it back it will go to Lionshare Farm along with everyone else from Mountain View. I am sure there are others in private hands throughout the United States too. I have heard about large facilities with up too some 150 some kudu for instance yet you don't hear about them to often.
