Indianapolis vs Louisville Zoos

I have a coupe of hours to visit one zoo while I am on a business trip to the two areas of Indianapolis and Louisville. I have been to Louisville and Kentucky a number of times, but I never stopped at the zoo. I can probably devote about 2 hours at either zoo, but not both.

I am not too keen on the Indianapolis designs....but at least they are unique and maybe worth the time. I recently saw the zoo walk through from @Moebelle on the youtube channel, and it seems like the time frame may fit my schedule. I can also see myself going back to Louisville in the future, but I am not confident I will make it back to the Indianapolis area, but who knows.

Indianapolis probably takes less time since there are fewer terrariums and the like. Just a fairly brisk walk through the campus. It has some big ticket animals Louisville doesn’t (chimpanzees, dolphins, cheetahs) and generally better exhibits for African megafauna.

I personally prefer Louisville as they have a better mix of smaller animals and pretty decent exhibits for their larger ones. A few stinkers last I went (some of the Asia rotational, most of Africa), but generally good. You won’t have a bad time at either, though.

I'm actually hoping to fit both of these into this month, so super useful info.

If you're less likely to return to Indianapolis and only have two hours, I get the vibe the Indy Zoo might be more fulfilling. I've seen zoochatters call it a two-hour zoo before so chances are you would be able to get a full trip or close to. Louisville sounds to me like it would take a bit longer and you sound to have a higher chance of a return trip.

I will try and write a review today or tomorrow, but I ended up going to Louisville. I had intended on hitting Indianapolis, but my trip route was changed and I was in Indy past 4PM - so no go there. But I was able to sneak in 1.5 hours in Louisville, which was enough time to literally run through the zoo.
