Insect found globally now endangered

Another insect in real danger ( at least in Western Europe ) is the Pubic louse ( Phthirus pubis ). Is is due to a higher hygiene and lost of habitat ( this is not a joke but realy serious ). Problem is that few people are willing to provide it a save heaven !!!

Another species? That's the species this link is about.

Fun fact about the pubic louse:

In most species there is only one species of louse, but in humans there are two. As we lost our hair through evolution, our species' louse migrated to our head. Somewhere along the way, humans "somehow" picked up the gorilla's louse which evolved into our pubic louse. In other words, someone....

gorillas have been hunted for a long time in Africa: transfers of lice wouldn't need to be sexual, they would only require close contact of a human and a recently-killed gorilla (e.g. when it was being butchered).

I know that. I was just conjuring up a Congo-like scenario.

This thread is just bizarre - but as it's a species considered to be a pest, then is it something that should or will be conserved :p I can't imagine the pubLic going for that one :D

Excuse my ignorance, but I'm fairly sure it's not an insect [and I haven't got any available for me to count the legs]

Look it up - it is an insect.

How is this a Congo-like scenario? In the novel by Michael Crichton no one shagged a gorilla. Unless you are suggesting that shagging of gorillas takes place in the Congo (basin)? You confused me there....

There are gorilla/human hybrids in the novel.

The wild gray ones.

I just read the summary of the book on Wikipedia, and unless you messed with the page yourself, then I owe you an apology. Wikipedia says that one of the characters in the book postulated that the gorillas were either a gorilla-chimpanzee or gorilla-human hybrid.
