Pittsburgh Zoo purchased, a few years ago, a 700 acre hunting ranch in Southwestern Pennsylvania to develop into a conservation center. The main focus of the center will be the zoos highly successful African Elephant breeding program staring Jackson the most prolific African Elephant in North America. This facility will also be the new home to Philadelphia's young African cows. Also in the future, the zoo hopes to add hoofstock and carnivores to the conservation center's programs.

Recently, the zoo moved its prized bull, Jackson to the center.

Do you know if the other elephants at the zoo will be moved to the center after the massive (40,000 sq ft) barn is constructed? I know Callee (Jackson's 10 year old son) is being moved to birmingham.

The Philidelphia zoo has released video of their elephant Bette at the Pittsburgh Zoo's International Conservation center with two of the three cows imported last year. A rare look into this center which is bound for success in elephant breeding. Bette has apparently become the matriarch of the group. Thandi one of the Botswana imports is not present in any of the videos, which makes me wonder if at the time this was shot she was being bred to Jackson, or possibly since she was the old matriarch that there are some issues with her and Bette  I can only speculate.
