Is there any great music about zoos?

The passing of Davy Jones made me think of Monkees, which made me think of monkeys, which made me think of zoos (which is the place that I usually see monkeys).

Circling back to the original thought, are there any great songs about zoos?

The only song that comes to mind is Simon and Garfunkel's "At The Zoo" (
). My only objection to this song is that I have never known giraffes to be insincere.

Does anybody here have a favorite song about zoos?

you can't really overlook "Walking In The Zoo (Is The OK Thing To Do)" by Alfred Vance in 1867, which popularised the word "zoo" (he was referring to the London Zoological Gardens).
 
I might also mention a recent Coldplay song which features people in elephant suits and was partly filmed at a zoo in, I assume, England (although the song itself has nothing to do with zoos). Anyone know which zoo it was filmed at?

Rather pleasingly, Lou Reed's Perfect Day includes a trip to the zoo. Though they feed the animals - I hope it's with zoo-authorised food! :D
 
Rather reluctantly I find myself remembering Judy Felix "Daddy's taking us to the Zoo Tomorrow".

I say "reluctantly", because I can remember hearing it when I was younger than my own children are now...:o
 
I can only think about "Yesterday's Zoo", which is not really a song and it´s not really about a zoo :-) But it´s about extinct animals and wonderfully animated :)

I think it´s made by the same guy that did all the funny songs and videos about animals, e.g. "Green Anaconda"and "Symbiotic".

The gibbon enclosure is at Paradise Wildlife Park (which ties in with the name of the song, clever or coincidence?).

The gibbon is Ethan (ex Twycross) who was a little calmer when I saw him last week.

The other enclosure also looks like Paradise Wildlife Park, but I'm not 100%.

On the plus side some money from the profits of the original record funded research into gibbons. They rereleased it in 2010 too with money going to the cause.

Camille Saint-Saens' Carnival of the Animals definitely has origins in the zoo (probably one of the Paris collections) as well as poking fun of all of his friends. It is probably the only piece on here that could truly qualify as "great."

I don't know if it was the Jardin des Plantes. Bizarrely, on a visit there in the summer of 1998, a grand piano had been placed in the Ostrich enclosure. In a German zoo that might have been a very heavy-handed attempt at a joke..;)

(German for Ostrich being Strauss, for anyone who didn't know)
