Shaldon Wildlife Trust Is this Zoo still open?

Hi,this is my first post.

I visited this zoo two years ago, we stumbled across it by accident whilst on holiday in Paignton. For the size of it i thought it was a brillant place. However i've looked it up on the internet, it's site hasn't been updated for two years and there is very little elsewhere about Shaldon. I hope it hasn't closed down as i would very much like to go back one day.

Having read this

At present, there are many species that are not kept at the zoo because they are nocturnal. In the few zoos that have nocturnal houses, these animals live indoors in accommodation with reverse lighting so that people can see them during the day. Shaldon Wildlife Trust wishes to so something truly unique by opening the zoo at night. By mixing diurnal (daytime) animals with nocturnal animals in the same enclosures, we can simulate nature with a "day shift" and a "night shift" and offer visitors a unique and exciting attraction.

On their site from 2 years ago, i very much hope it hasn't closed.

No, it's still there!
They're about to expand it I think into some woodland next door actually, almost doubling the zoo's size.

That's ok. It's a nice little place, although some of it really needs improving. I hope they just improve what they already have instead of getting loads of new species.

Part of shaldon has already been rebuilt the rest will be done to the same standard as and when funds permit.

Is that the area with the tamarins and that behind the meerkats?

while i was at shaldon, the idear was to mov the ringtailed lemurs into the new area and bulidng an educational unit in its place! building new ocelot exhibts and oly getting a few new animals in to increse intrest a little! not huge increase in the number of species exhibited!!!

Good, they really need a new Ocelot and ring tail exhibit.
Has any building work started yet?

I spoke to Tracy on my last visit, she said there'd be a new enclosure for the ring tailed lemurs, yellow breasted capuchins, meerkats (I assume to make way for the ramps for wheelchair users) and I think she said one of the ruffed lemur species too. Education building will be going on the site of the ring tailed lemur cage and I'm hoping they'll build a new ocelot cage too. This site has already been cleared and the new perimeter fencing is up.
