ZSL Whipsnade Zoo John Aspinall and ZSL

Hello everyone,

Im wondering if anyone can elaborate upon the following:

Is it true that, during the crisis of the early 1990's, that John Aspinall attempted to purchase Whipsnade from ZSL but was refused?

Whether there is any substance to this or not, what does everyone think the Aspinalls would have done to Whipsnade?

Aspinall was interviewed either in the news circa 1991 or as part of a documentary about the near-closure of London zoo at the time. He stated that the Zoological Society offered to sell Whipsnade to him but, as he was struggling financially with his own two collections at the time, he declined.
