Whats the most loved up zoo animals you have seen :D

I must say Annouska and Igor at Colchester zoo, she follows him around everywhere, constantly flirting with him :D

He on the otherhand seems very keen in other ways :p very educational !!

Erm, I was at Marwell Zoo last sunday in the Giraffe house and the male giraffe was followed absolutly everywhere by this female.

Everyone was trying to stroke the giraffes and I was busy taking pictures and all of a sudden this tiny little giraffe came over and I got to stroke her on the nose. The evil looks I got...

Hello HuxleyPig (love the name shame I am old enough to recognise it :p) and welcome to zoochat :D

Us females like to chase lol Although you do not get much natural selection in a zoo environment

Thanks for the welcome :)
Im going to Marwell again tomorrow (annual pass ftw) and will have a look for more following haha

Funny, I'm going to Marwell tomorrow too for my oryx club meeting! Again, I'll be looking out for erotic animal behaviour. But in September's meeting I did see an ostrich mating ritual at Marwell, very interesting and amusing. I have a picture of it in my gallery.

Where are the ostriches now? There were some behind the leopard lookout bit last sunday, and there was one in that big empty field. Marwell seems to have changed loads recently. The courtyard things where the Gemsbok (?) are have been done up nicely.

We went on a college trip there last February to learn about imporvement in zoos. They said theyre going to have gorillas soon. You wouldnt happen to know anything more about this?

A lot of things can change in a month, but I know for certain there are ostriches in the hall foreground paddock as usual and the old gemsbok paddock with the chapmans zebra where I saw the mating, which is the proposed gorilla site.

Which leads on to you're second point. Marwell is determined on getting gorillas, and this will happen once Marwell's got all the funds it needs, but it's gone a bit quiet at the mo. When they do arrive however it will start as a bachelor group.

^ Haha, Mine will have to be the two siamangs at monkey world, they were rolling on the floor playing for at least half an hour then they went into a manic grooming session, was very sweet to watch!
