ZSL Whipsnade Zoo Karishma and other elephants

Two things I was woundering is Karishma at full time or on a site I have found says she is on breeding loan:

"Karishma, was born on the 27th August 1998 and she recently moved to Whipsnade Zoo on breeding loan "

And what adult femlaes at Whipsnade are off birth control ?

I thought Karishma has become pregnant at Whipsnade? Does anyone know when she is due?

Karishma is on breeding loan from Twycross,but she will not be returning to Twycross,as they were having problems with her at Twycross.

The 2008 trustees report says Karishma is due to give birth in April 2010.

Karishma gave birth to a baby boy on Monday.

There is a good photograph of her with the new born baby and his half brother Euan in todays Sun newspaper.

Meet George!

The right to name Karishma's baby was sold on Ebay a few weeks ago. The auction raised £1850 for elephant conservation although the winner later raised the donation to £2500 and a result of the auction he has been named George
