Seeing as how the king cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) has been split into four separate species, we should now discuss which species are present in American zoos. I believe only two of the four species are present, the Sunda king cobra (O. bungarus) and the Mainland king cobra (O. hannah). My home zoo, the Philadelphia Zoo, used to have O. bungarus, since when they used to be at the zoo, their page on the zoo's website stated they were born wild in Indonesia. I know some zoos in the U.S. have "Chinese" king cobras, which would be O. hannah. I would also like to ask about certain king cobras at certain zoos and where they came from. I've seen king cobras at the Bronx Zoo, National Zoo, Electric City Aquarium, and the Columbus Zoo.
