At mid-day Thursday, a King Penguin chick hatched. It required some help from the keepers having not progressed much is 2 days.

The chick has been segregated with the parents who fed it for the first time today. At this point the chick seems strong and is vocal. Pictures are regularly being added to the facebook page of Spike the King Penguin, along with some video.

This is Birdlands first KP chick since 2007. The Greater Flamingos have also laid their first egg since 2007

Fantastic news on the penguin and flamingo. Blackpool zoo have recently had a baby flamingo hatch. Where about's is the Birdland park located? i'd like to visit.

In the Cotswolds, in a village called Bourton on the Water. Nearby you have Cotswold Wildlife Park & Cotswold Falconary
