Knifefish in Captivity

I saw a new species of knifefish at the fish store today, the Brown Ghost Knifefish, Apterontus leptorhynchus.

Xenomystus nigri

Gymnarchidae:
Gymnarchus niloticus

Gymnotidae:
Electrophorus electricus
Gymnotus carapo

Apteronotidae:
Apteronotus albifrons

Sternopygidae:
Eigenmannia lineata

Black ghost knifefish
Electric eel (Electrophorus electricus)

Featherback Knifefish:
African knifefish (Xenomystus nigri)
Clown featherback Knifefish (Chitala ornata)

The ones I’ve seen most in public aquariums/pet shops are the species in the genus Chitala, Electric eel and the Black ghost knifefish.

I have seen electric eel, like most, along with black ghost and African brown. I have also seen clown knife in the pet trade as well.
