So with watching the new TV series SLOTSP(Secret Life) tonights episode shows the new male camels introduced, Merlin & Marvin.

It got me thinking, who was the last breeding male & did he move on? What happened to young male Gary, was he rehomed?

0:1 Somali Wild Ass has arrived, unsure how many they currently keep now including Lara?

Introducing Lahra!

Thursday's Secret Life of the #SafariPark episode followed Hansi's story, concluding with the exciting news that a younger female would be joining us. While little Hansi's are yet to arrive, we will continue to have our hooves and fingers crossed

With only a few hundred Somali individuals left, Lahra's arrival fills us with hope for a brighter future

I saw at least four when visiting in mid November.

Are they mixed with anything ? I can’t remember if they are or not

Interesting to know that the male Red River hog died last year and the remaining female Bella is now 15yrs old. Bella was PTS in tonight episode
Tonight's episode looks as though a young female was brought in from Chester zoo

Does anyone know what happened to the Knowsley Safari Park branded top trumps? The sales assistant seemed to think they'd recently stopped doing them but I can't find any evidence of them online. If anyone has any they'd be willing to sell, I'd love to have them please :)

Drumroll, please! It's time to announce the official name of Bayami's precious calf...

Say hello to Bindi - A name that packs a punch with it meaning 'Brave'!

This little one is currently keeping cosy in the warmth and quiet of the rhino house alongside Mum. We'll give an update in the coming weeks when she is out on the drive.

0:2 Somali wild ass(Helena & Illia) have arrived a few weeks ago from France so including Lahra who arrived at the beginning of the year there is now 1:4 with hopes of a successful breeding programme. Unsure how old the 2 original females are

Plans have been submitted for a new animal enclosure at Knowsley Safari Park.
The application, on behalf of the Earl of Derby, is to create a 29m (95ft) long building with 30 pens for animals as part of its Africa reserve.
The site, formerly part of the deer park, currently has no trees and is an "underutilised" piece of land at the site with "low ecological value".
The need for the additional area emerged after a review of the park's infrastructure, including a "proactive review of the animal species held within the safari, their welfare needs and the existing facilities.

Presumably it's to replace existing housing perhaps that's no longer suitable although I'm just guessing

Please note: We're currently building exciting new homes for our amazing animals in the Africa section, please bear with us whilst there is some disruption to this area.

I remember a good few years back that at the time Knowsley was set for a program of renewal of its facilities and progressively substitute new holding stalls for its hoofstock across the whole complex.

Anyone know if Knowsley still hold Rhea and if so where they are found?

Amur tiger Miron has departed for ZSL Whipsnade this week.

With Miron's departure obviously Makari will live in the Amur habitat, which male was living on the drive through upto this week?

The tiger facility on foot safari safari at Knowsley can be spilt into two paddocks (The larger pond paddock and the smaller log paddock). For the last year Miron has had access to the pond paddock with Makari having access to the log paddock. The last tiger to be housed on the drive was Bira (a female) who is now at Emerald Park in Ireland. Miron’s move opens up the possibility of a female arriving at Knowsley as part of the breeding programme. Knowsley will likely rotate Makari between the two paddocks as they did when Miron was the only resident tiger.

When exactly did Lahra arrive at Knowsley? Its still only mid/late August and she has already had a foal. Was she pregnant before her arrival perhaps?

Or is it just that the news of her arrival was delayed due to the T.V. programme going out a lot later than her actual arrival.
